Ink

Alright everyone, I had a true culinary experience on Friday night and I am so excited to tell you about it.

My boyfriend and I went to a wedding in Los Angeles and decided to celebrate our Valentine’s Day together while we were there. He made reservations at a restaurant called Ink in West Hollywood.

The whole vibe was very classic, but also very chill. We didn’t have just one waiter – it was a very shared experience from the entire staff. Different, cool, and edgy – I was into it. The idea of the menu is that it changes frequently to add seasonal dishes and specialty favorites. You generally order 2 starters, 2 mains, and 2-3 sides for 2 people and share. Oh an their specialty? Steak. I was in heaven.

We ordered their oysters with a mignonette to start. But here’s the catch – the mignonette was flash frozen and melted in your mouth with the oyster. It was incredible – and very unexpected. Our second starter was the street corn – it was sweet, savory, and delicious. And my personal favorite? The egg yolk gnocchi.

Sitting in a French onion broth, these “gnocchi” are light, fluffy, and creamy on the inside. YUM!

For mains we had a pork with plantains and a filet minion that melted in your mouth. Cooked to perfection!

It was a great night of wining and dining, and I recommend this place if you’re ever in the area. For now, I’ll just dream about that gnocchi…

I’m jealous now because INK is on my restaurant bucket list. But I’m surprised that there is no tasting menu.
