Texas Dinin’ and Drankin’ (Part 1)

I went to Texas for the first time this past weekend and all I have to say is WOW! I had the opportunity to go to San Antonio and Austin, and all that lies in between. In this post I’m going to talk about some fun food and drink spots in San Antonio, Texas.

First, Bar 1919. We did a cocktail tasting – meaning 8 “1/2 cocktails” (definitely 3/4), that are either award winning or currently competing, from the bar tenders there. See details about Tasting Thursdays here

It’s designed as a true speakeasy, so you think you’re walking into some run down, dark, metal framed bar, but really you get an authentic-feeling speakeasy. We had a great time afterwards with the live jazz music too – I will definitely be back next time I’m in San Antonio.

San Antonio has so much to offer, especially the River Walk. There are tons of things to do, shops to visit, and restaurants to enjoy. One bar that is really cool is the Menger Bar.

The draw? Theodore Roosevelt and his rough riders used to come here and hang out. Talk about historical.

All in all, in this city I ate TONS of breakfast tacos from Las Palapas and a lot of TexMex in general. What could be better?

Stay tuned for my next post about BBQ and farm-fresh eating in Austin.
